2024年4月26日，世界卫生组织和法国政府将共同主办一场高级别会议，领导人强调了战胜脑膜炎的必要性，这是致残的主要原因之一。此前，尼日利亚成功推出了一款新型、安全、高效的疫苗，针对非洲细菌性脑膜炎的五种主要菌株。在此基础上，各国领导人承诺实施“到2030年战胜脑膜炎”全球路线图，需要提供催化投资以采取行动。该路线图旨在预防近300万例脑膜炎病例和至少90万例死亡，并节省数十亿美元的医疗费用。路线图详细说明了预防、诊断、治疗和护理的措施，并强调提供支持和护理给因脑膜炎而致残的人。法国承办首次高级别会议，呼吁全球共同努力应对脑膜炎挑战。世卫组织将继续支持各国制定本国的国家脑膜炎计划，推动全面实施路线图倡议。

关于脑膜炎
脑膜炎（meningitis）是脑脊膜炎的简称，指发生于脑脊膜的急性或慢性炎症。脑脊膜是包裹大脑和脊髓的保护薄膜，包裹脑的部分称为脑膜，包裹脊髓的部分称为脊膜。
脑膜炎是神经系统最常见的急危重症之一，病因涉及细菌、病毒、真菌、结核、寄生虫等多种病原微生物，往往起病急，临床表现多样，病死率和致残率高。脑膜炎幸存者可遗留包括耳聋、失明、癫痫、智力低下、运动障碍等神经系统后遗症。
